Wake up, babe. A new major fashion and footwear collab just dropped. Celeb-favorite shoe brand Dr. Martens and trending fashion label MM6 Maison Margiela are teaming up for an exciting new release.
On November 12, the two brands announced their new capsule collection. It includes three different shoes, each combining Dr. Martens’s signature styles and MM6 Maison Margiela’s uniquely unorthodox aesthetic.
As described by the brands, the first silhouette is “a fusion of the 1460 eight-eye boot and 1461 three-eye shoe” using “durable Vintage Smooth leather in oxblood with soft and supple black Virginia leather for a bold contrast of color and texture.” Next is a combination of “the extra-tall 1490 boot reconstructed with a bump toe edition of the 1461 shoe to increase the curvature of the silhouette.” Though it’s similarly constructed from a combination of Vintage smooth and Virginia leather, both are black for this shoe, giving it a monochromatic finish. Lastly, the classic black Penton loafer is reimagined with a peekaboo effect of oxblood leather and laces from the traditional 1461 shoe peeking out from under.
The collection not only highlights the histories and aesthetics of these two distinct brands but also hits on some of today’s hottest trends. Oxblood continues to be one of fall 2024’s hottest trends. Combat boots and loafers are also steady shoewear choices this season after becoming major trends in recent years.
Both Dr. Martens and MM6 Maison Margiela are no strangers to the world of collaborations. MM6 Maison Margiela just collaborated with the celeb-approved gorpcore sneaker brand Salomon, and Dr. Martens previously collaborated with the National Gallery, Heaven by Marc Jacobs, and BT21, to name but a few.
The Dr. Martens and MM6 Maison Margiela capsule collection will go on sale on November 19 via both brands’ websites and in select stores. The boots will retail for $320, while the shoes will be $290.
